“ First time here. It was our 25th wedding anniversary so tried to choose somewhere a bit different than the normal pub-type place and we weren't disappointed. We chose the 8oz sirloin and treacle pudding and clotted cream for afters. The meal was lovely and the steak cooked to perfection. The treacle pudding and clotted cream were to die for, it's also served with ice cream if you wish. The waitress was great and polite, and we had no complaints. Yes, they are more expensive than a pub, but being a smaller, more intimate place it was ideal for our meal. We would recommend trying it, if you have never been you might be pleasantly surprised ”

“ There was only our party present, however, it is nicely decorated and you could imagine a buzz if others were present. The food was well presented and the Server ensured the 3 year old had activities to amuse her as well as food so she was not waiting for us to finish the 1st course. We chose meals we would not necessarily cook at home. 6 Oysters,slipped down well followed by a 10oz skirt steak for me with a red wine and marrow jus; ideal for dunking the chunky crispy chips. My son had the Octopus with Chorizo and risotto. A beautiful dish. The 3 year old had home made chicken gougeons with skin on Fries and beans followed by a raspberry ice cream topped with fresh and freeze dried fruit and jus. Delightful. I tested the Server to make an Irish coffee which he mastered and helped to make my experience complete. ”

Looking forward to coming back and trying the rest of the menu, we shared the kimchi belly pork starter, next time I'm having one to myself as it was delicious! I had 28 day aged ribeye steak which was so tender with yummy tobacco onions and beef fat chips. He had the swordfish with prawns and greenlip mussels and a broth, all was very delicious. We shared a pudding of skillet cookie with caramel ice cream, yes please! Well done guys, what a find! ”

“ Visiting in Summer 2024, I really enjoyed visiting Hops and Chops. I had the filet steak with a side of seasonal greens and creamy mash potatoes which was excellent. Steak was perfectly cooked to my request and the mash and veg were delicious. The service was exceptional with our server having great banter and helpful in recommending dinner options. For dessert, I had the sticky toffee pudding which was perfectly portioned and really tasty. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would visit again. ”
